The tampon incident

On Thursday my 1st period aid (also one of my senior tennis players) was rustling through my desk drawers as I walked around my classroom assisting my students with a worksheet. He pulled out a tampon (to be more precise, a Tampax compact) and waved it around asking me "Hey, Berwick, is this one of those nasty mints?" Needless, to say my reaction was priceless. I proceeded to laugh so hard I cried. Once he realized what he was holding was indeed not a mint, he threw it back in the drawer so hard I thought it might ricochet back out of the drawer. The female students in my class joined in with the laughter while the males looked very confused. Definitely one of the funnier moments of my first year teaching!
